Where is Glacier Bay: Western Alaska, about 400 miles southeast of Anchorage (only accessible by plane or boat).
Recommendations
Don’t miss: Take a boat tour all the way into the bay where you’ll see tons of wildlife and huge tidewater glaciers. If you stay at the lodge, visit the Tribal House and learn about the local Tlingit history.
When to visit: Late spring through summer. Many Alaskan Cruises include a trip into Glacier Bay.
How long to stay: If you’re making the effort to go, stay at least 2-3 nights in the lodge and do 1-2 fly tours.

Wildlife galore including eagles, whales, orcas, and bears. It’s a beautiful bay surrounded by towering mountains with tidewater basins that calve and crash into the water.
