Recommendations
Don’t miss: Hike to Emerald Lake, see the mountains reflecting in Sprague Lake at sunrise, drive Old Fall River Road, spot elk in Moraine Park, and find elusive moose near the headwaters of the Colorado River.
When to visit: Spring, summer, or fall, although summer/weekends can be crowded in the popular areas. We needed to get daily entrance reservations on Recreation.gov, so plan ahead.
How long to stay: Please do more than just drive Trail Ridge Road through the park. It’s a great drive, but spend at least 3 days on the east side of the park and 2 on the west side to see all the beauty and wildlife Rocky Mountain NP has to offer.
Definitely check out the Photo Gallery of our best pictures.
