Where is Mammoth Cave: Pretty much in the middle of Kentucky, about 90 miles south of Louisville and 90 miles north of Nashville, TN.
Recommendations
Don’t miss: Sign up for a tour, it’s the only way to get into the cave. They have several to choose from depending on your ability and desire for adventure.
When to visit: Any time is probably ok. It’s mid 50’sF in the cave all the time. We visited in October and it was comfortable.
How long to stay: You can easily do this park in a day.

Mammoth Cave only has a few truly photogenic sections as most of the cave is dry. We captured what we could and still enjoyed our tour. Take a look and gauge for yourself.

With over 400 miles of tunnels, Mammoth Cave is the world’s longest known cave system. You can’t enter the cave, except on a tour, so that’s what we did. And yep, it’s a cave. Dark and cool.
